Itinerary

After pickup at accomodation in Cape Town we will travel through the city and see historical monuments and buildings.  From there we will stop in the Bo Kaap for a photo oppertunity with colourfull houses, which carries great historical significance.  Situated at the foot of Signal Hill, on the fringe of the City Centre, the Bo Kaap ‘s origins date back to the 1760’s when numerous rental houses were built and leased to slaves.  These people were known as Cape Malays, and were brought from Malaysia, Indonesia and the rest of Africa to work in the Cape.  All houses had to be white while these houses were on lease.  But when this rule was eventually lifted and the slaves were allowed to buy these houses, all the houses were painted bright colours as an expression of there freedom.
